Sabine Meyer and Reiner Wehle at Playnick

The second weekend in November Sabine Meyer and Reiner Wehle visited us to test our mouthpieces. Amongst German students our models Solist M and PlayEasy B2 are proving to be very popular and successful.
This visit has put our material to the test once again. We worked intensly to find an optimal mouthpiece/reed combination which suits the highest requirements regarding quality according to our motto "Serving the best Players".

Höf-Präbach welcomes the world

The quality of our mouthpieces has been widely known for a longer time now, but our costumers also higly appreciate the consultation and the fine-tuning of the material according to their individual ideas and here at the Center of Excellence in Höf-Präbach. The summer of 2013 was filled with events and we were pleased to welcome many musicians from near and far. Amongst them were Runar Oskarsson from the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and György Salamon from the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra who found their way to us for the first time.

Long-term costumers like Steve Cohen, Professor at the Northwestern University of Chicago, Wenzel Fuchs and Andreas Ottensamer of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as Roberto Gander, Professor at the Conservatory Monte Verdi in Bolzano, Italy paid us a visit to see and hear the latest updates of our products, because progress gives always a good feeling!

ClarinetFest 2013 in Assisi, Italy

The ClarinetFest, an annually organized event by the International Clarinet Association took place from July 24-28th in Assisi (Italy), the birthplace of St. Francis. About 1500 clarinettists from all over the world came together in the picturesque medieval city with its beautiful sights. Assisi was all about the clarinet. (A variety of different clarinet sounds could be heard coming from every corner of the city, which contrasted in a very interesting way with the otherwise/usually calm and silent ambience of the many churches – simply indescribable!) The program was packed with lectures, concerts, workshops, events and a three-day exhibition, where we presented our products as well. We were surprised by the approval and the high interest of the visitors; our booth was well attended all the time – the quality of our mouthpieces has apparently become well-known on an international level by now! We are delighted to welcome many new clients and we are especially glad to be able to win over/fill them with enthusiasm and satisfy long-standing customers time and time again. Therefore we would like to express our sincere thanks to all of them!

On the fly...an interview mit Wenzel Fuchs

Due to his brimful schedule Wenzel Fuchs (Principal Clarinet with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra) wasn’t able to grace the ClarinetFest 2013 in Assisi with his presence but he did take the time to answer a few questions of Nick Kückmeier – the entire interview „On the fly“ can be found here...

Andreas Ottensamer on CD

Mercury Classics/Deutsche Grammophon just recently released the debut album of Austrian clarinetist Andreas Ottensamer, the first ever solo clarinetist to sign an exclusive agreement with the Yellow Label. Portraits – The Clarinet Album covers a wide range of musical styles. Andreas Ottensamer says of the choice of repertoire: “This is a personal choice of pieces where I feel the clarinet’s full expressive range is portrayed. It goes beyond the standard repertoire, certainly with the arrangements, but while the three concertos form the framework, all the music is linked by similar moods.”

Andreas Ottensamer trusts in our PlayEasy System since he first tried it in 2009, he says: "The Kückmeier/Légère Material has added a new perspective to the clarinet world. Playing on it has made it possible for me to fathom an entirely new dimension of performance."

The Carl Nielsen 5th International Clarinet Competition

Once again, our Solist M enabled a young musician to just concentrate on his playing and fathom an entirely new dimension of performance – Mister Sergey Eletskiy from Russia convinced at the Carl Nielsen 5th International Clarinet Competition in Odense, Denmark and won 1st Prize - Congratulations!

Huge success for our material in diverse auditions

We are proud to announce that musicians have been able to win auditions on our Soloist- and PlayEasy-mouthpieces (also in combination with synthetic reeds) again! Mrs. Sayaka Schmuck got the position as principal clarinet with the Sinfonieorchester Wuppertal and Mr. Dario Marino Varela could convince to get the position as principal clarinet with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin – we congratulate Mrs. Schmuck as well as Mr. Varela and wish them ALL THE BEST for their further career!

Romain Guyot tested our PlayEasy B2

Romain Guyot (Professor of clarinet at the Haute École de Musique in Geneva) was born in France and started to play the clarinet at the age of eight. When he was seventeen he attracted Claudio Abbado’s attention as a member of the European Community Youth Orchestra. After this he became principal clarinet successively with the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Paris (1991-2001), the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (2003-2006), and then, fulfilling one of his most cherished dreams, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe (2008).

Because the Chamber Orchestra of Europe has been invited to perform at this years's Styriarte Festival in Graz, Romain Guyot used this opportunity to give PLAYNICK a visit – on June 25th, 2013 he came to test our products and was especially sold on our PlayEasy B2...which gives us great pleasure!

Andreas Wieser tested our products for basset-horn and bass clarinet

On May 14th Andreas Wieser from the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra paid us a visit again to test our material for basset -horn and bass clarinet. His conclusion was positive without exeption:

"The development of these mouthpieces in combination with the reeds is an absolute enrichment. After the change on the Bb clarinet – which was a tremendous relief and brought much more security – the combination for basset-horn and bass clarinet presents me unimaginable possibilities. Perfect response, balanced intonation and absolutely clear, pure and smooth sound define this revolutionary and remarkable innovation. I am very happy to have made the change and I am really looking forward to my upcoming concerts!"

PLAYNICK in Rostock and Lübeck, Germany

We received an invitation from Heiner Schindler (Professor of clarinet) to conduct a workshop at the Rostock University of Music and Drama on the 19th of April.
